Indians are Real Globe-trotters!

Today,Indian citizens are permanent residents of all but three nations in the world. The ministry of overseas Indian affairs has confirmed that Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are working 180 of the 183 countries of the world. NRIs are Indians holding Indian Passports while living in other countries. NRIs remain citizen of India but enjoy the right to live and work permanently in the other countries of their choice.

Globe- trotting Indians can be found in every part of the world. It may be the world’s youngest sovereign state – Republic of Palau or Bolivia having 20 Indian citizens there or a tiny nation-Djibouti – home for 375 Indians.

Gujaratis or Tamils or Punjabis have been globe- trotting for centuries. Indians have fought two world wars for the British army and settled down in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. Once settled in some first world countries, Globe- trotting Indians have been helping their friends and relatives go global.

No doubt, Indians have preferred, historically, the nations of the first world or West Asia, where they have found a lot of job or business opportunities. But latest data confirm that in a global village, NRIs are making opportunities in literally every part of the world.

Have they really been making some real contribution in the development of the Earth?
Jai ho – Global-trotting Indians !
